Garcia was a founding member, co-lead singer and lead guitarist of the premier San Francisco '60's jamband, Grateful Dead. That music and psychedelic style led to a whole counterculture of its own, whose members are known as Deadheads. After his death, fellow band members would no longer perform as the Grateful Dead but carried on the music and magic as Dead and Company.
